The Activist in Residence project was an opportunity for young people in Blackpool to collaborate with a ‘host’ organisation, supporting them to fully develop and deliver an activist campaign that promotes change.
BoingBoing Foundation’s Activist in Residence project focused on exploring the potential of activism to promote good mental health through positive action, as well as fighting injustice and issues in society that can impact negatively on a person’s mental health.
During the Activist in Residence project, which was hosted by Healthwatch Blackpool, Caitlan strived to engage with young people and allow them to have the opportunity to have their say, in order to gain their perception, and understanding of local mental health services. As well as this, Caitlan wanted to establish if they knew when and where support could be provided. As a result, Caitlan has engaged with professionals in Blackpool, designed a survey, carried out a variety of engagement activities and written a comprehensive report with key messages and recommendations.
