Junior doctors have confirmed they will hold another, 72-hour walkout, from 7am on Wednesday 14 June until 7am, Saturday 17 June.
They said there had been no progress in their pay dispute after three weeks of talks with government and if ministers didn’t change their position, they would “strike throughout the summer”.
The previous 72-hour walkout by junior doctor members in April was the most disruptive of all industrial action held by NHS staff, in terms of the number of operations and outpatient appointments that needed to be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, a ballot of nurse members of the Royal College of Nursing is currently underway until 23 June about a national strike and hospital consultants are also being asked if they would support industrial action, in a ballot that closes on 27 June.
We will be urging NHS England to ensure hospitals put out clear communications to patients on affected services.
