Healthwatch Blackpool Volunteer Week

Volunteers are an integral part to all that we do here at Healthwatch Blackpool. The time, commitment and passion that our volunteers have shared with us has been second to none.

With social distancing measures in place Healthwatch Blackpool weren’t able to host our usual events during Volunteers’ Week but we did have a wonderful afternoon tea on zoom.

Our volunteers have supported us greatly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and continue to support our community through weekly welfare phone calls. We are forever grateful and can’t wait to see you all soon.

Our volunteer Julie has shared her views on volunteering:

Before my retirement I worked as a professional in healthcare and were supported by wonderful volunteers who added so much to every aspect of care and we couldn’t manage without them.

So on retirement I wanted to give back that wonderful support I had received. I looked at various volunteer opportunities and knew of Healthwatch , this felt like a good fit for me with my healthcare background giving me an opportunity to hear what it is like for the public accessing healthcare and hopefully be able to use this opportunity to make a difference for future care and services.

I was made to feel very welcomed by not just the Healthwatch Team but also Empowerment . I have enjoyed the various projects that I have been involved with and felt  I have been part of the team and my input has been valued. Thank you all for the opportunity.
